China Launches National Blockchain Center
China recently inaugurated its national blockchain center in Beijing in order to drive the advancement of technology within the country.
Objective Behind Launching Research Center
The objective behind launching this research center is to ensure that there is a comprehensive national-level network in place that will successfully connect existing blockchain systems within China while providing support to various industries.
ChainMaker Blockchain
The research center is under the leadership of the Beijing Academy of Blockchain and Edge Computing which has developed ChainMaker, a foundational model for its initiatives. ChainMaker has gained support from 50 business corporations, predominantly state-owned entities such as China Construction Bank and China Unicom.
Upgraded Version Of Data Directory System
In February, the government of Beijing introduced an upgraded version (referred to as 2.0) of its data directory system which operates on ChainMaker. This upgrade was made with an aim to establish a comprehensive and secure platform for collecting and storing data from more than 80 government departments within the capital city.
